Abigail Lewis Photography have been awarded Welsh Maternity and Newborn Photographer of the Year 2021 by Prestige Awards. We were so thrilled to be considered, so to win was amazing. As hard as the last few years have been, we have been so honoured that all of our amazing clients have chosen us to capture their journeys into one of the most important stages of their lives. Being able to capture so many maternity and newborn customers has brought us so much joy at a time where there has been so much negativity everywhere else.
Covid has brought hardships to us all that nobody ever expected, so to know that all of the hard work that we put in during lockdown has started to pay off, means the absolute world to us. We pushed ourselves to be the best we could be throughout all of the pandemic. Even though we couldn’t see customers for the majority, we made sure we kept on top of everything, attending online workshops and conferences to make sure when we could reopen we were striving to be better than ever.
Maternity photography has been a big focus for us during the last 18 months as we felt like there wasn’t enough emphasis being given by our industry to how amazing this period of time is for families. Wales and the UK in general don’t have many photographers pushing the boundaries of maternity photography to celebrate and elevate these women who are creating miracles with their bodies. During every maternity session we seek to empower mothers to see the beauty and strength in the task they are undertaking and be proud of what their bodies are achieving.
Our Newborn photography differs from Maternity because these sessions are structured around keeping baby as comfortable and calm as possible. For this reason, most of these sessions are spent feeding and comforting the newborns to get them into a deep enough sleep to safely pose them using each prop. Safety is priority during every set up so if baby isn’t comfortable in a certain pose or position, we won’t push them in to doing it. We always have back up props, outfits and backdrops to use, incase baby decides this is the case.
For us, the experience is everything. We want you to walk away from the studio having loved every second of it. We want you to feel like you are part of the Abigail Lewis Family, because to us, you are! Every part of the new studio was designed with our customers in mind and we are so proud of the space we have created. Being young mothers ourselves, we know that the whole transition into this stage of your lives can be a very steep learning curve, so we try and make your experience with us as easy and stress free as possible.
