LLangoed Hall Maternity Session

We photograph maternity sessions both in studio and on location. Both have elements that make the session special and we really enjoy it either way. There is just something about shooting outdoors, and the unexpected things that can happen that makes it extra exciting. This shoot was in Llangoed Hall in the Brecon Beacons and was the perfect scene for our autumnal location maternity session.

The location was chosen because it meant something to the client and her partner. As soon as we did our initial visit to work out our plans for the session, we knew it was going to be everything we needed. Every time you got to a new side of the building the scenery changed completely. We had massive grand architecture on the one side and small fairytale like doorways on the other. The grand steps worked perfectly to lead the eye straight to our subject and we were really happy with how every location worked.

We also used continuous lighting for this session as we were shooting video at the same time. Matthew, our videographer captured behind the scenes of this session for us that you can see HERE. The continuous lighting was a game changer for us as we didn’t have to wait for the flash to refresh when we were shooting so fast. This was a key element for us in ensuring our customer was comfortable and able to relax between set ups for as long as possible.

If you have any requests for a studio or location maternity session don’t forget to get in touch. We travel far and wide and love to make your dreams a reality!

During a location maternity session, customers are nearly always nervous about posing and being centre of attention. We completely get it, we’ve done location maternity sessions ourselves on the other side of the camera and it is hard putting your trust solely on someone else to make sure you feel your absolute best. But we also shoot a lot of pregnancy sessions and know how to pose you in the most flattering way. Kristie is always just out of shot ready to jump in and help you pose. She will help you get your whole body into the correct position.

While Kristie is making sure you are at the right place Abigail is setting up the equipment so that as soon as you are ready we shoot really quickly and allow you to relax straight away. We work this way to ensure that the mothers are not in poses for any longer than absolutely necessary. We don’t want you to put strain on your body and we want you to be as safe and comfortable as possible throughout.
